Why washing matters (more than you think)
TPE skin is wonderfully soft because it's slightly porous — and porous means it holds on to body oils, sweat, lube and everything else you two got up to. Left alone, that residue breaks down the surface, invites odor and can even encourage bacteria in her intimate areas. A doll that gets regular baths stays supple, smells clean and lasts years longer. A doll that doesn't… gets sticky, then shiny, then cracked. Choose the bath.
Before you undress her: gather your kit
- Mild antibacterial soap — unscented, no alcohol, no harsh detergents. Baby soap works beautifully.
- Lukewarm water — comfortable to your wrist, never above 40 °C / 104 °F. Hot water is her enemy.
- Soft sponge or microfiber cloth — anything abrasive will scuff her.
- Two or three clean towels plus a dedicated drying towel.

The full bath, step by step
- Mix your wash water. Roughly one part mild soap to five parts lukewarm water. You want gentle suds, not a foam party.
- Sponge her down. Work in soft circles from shoulders to toes. Give friction zones — chest, hips, inner thighs — a little extra attention; that's where oils build up most.
- Mind the neck and head. Never submerge the head or soak the neck joint — the skeleton connector hides there, and metal + trapped water = rust. Clean her face separately with a barely-damp cloth, avoiding the eyes and lashes.
- Clean her intimate areas properly. Removable inserts make life easy: slide them out and wash separately under running water (full walkthrough in our insert cleaning guide). For fixed channels, flush gently with a bulb syringe of soapy water, then rinse with clean water until it runs clear.
- Rinse thoroughly. Leftover soap dries the skin just like it dries yours.
TPE vs. silicone: small but important differences
- TPE (most ToyFather dolls): more porous, so be diligent about rinsing and drying, and never use alcohol, solvents or oil-based cleaners — they dissolve the surface.
- Silicone: tougher and non-porous, tolerates slightly warmer water and mild soap easily, but the same rules apply: nothing abrasive, nothing solvent-based, and keep the head dry.
Drying is half the job
Pat — don't rub — with a clean towel, then let her air-dry completely for 2–3 hours before powdering or dressing her. Damp TPE under clothes is how mildew stories start. Can I shower or bathe with her?
Shared showers are fine if the water is lukewarm and her head stays dry. Skip shared tub soaks — prolonged full submersion risks water in the skeleton joints and neck bolt.
What soap is safest?
Fragrance-free baby soap or a dedicated toy cleaner. If you wouldn't use it on a newborn, don't use it on her.
How soon after play should I clean her?
Same day, ideally within a couple of hours. Lube and body fluids are hardest on TPE when they sit overnight.
Do I really need to wash her if she just sits there looking pretty?
