You've had your fun, you've given her a proper wash — don't ruin it by putting her away damp. Drying is the least glamorous part of doll care and the one that quietly decides whether her skin stays flawless for years or grows problems you can't wash away. Ten relaxed minutes of technique is all it takes.

Why damp is the real enemy
TPE itself doesn't rot — but trapped moisture breeds mildew in creases, breaks down powder, makes skin tacky, and worst of all, seeps toward the metal skeleton where it starts invisible rust. Every "my doll developed spots" story we've ever heard began with "I dressed her while she was still a bit damp." Don't be that story.
The drying routine that actually works
- Pat, never rub. Press a clean dry towel gently against the skin, section by section. Rubbing drags at the surface and strips powder residue unevenly.
- Hit the hidden spots. Moisture hides where skin meets skin: behind the knees, armpits, under the breasts, the folds of the hips, between fingers and toes, and inside the ears. Work a soft dry cloth into each.
- Drain her channels. After an internal rinse, position her so water can run out completely, then finish the inside with a dry cloth wrapped around a soft rod, or an absorbent stick made for the job.
- Air-dry to finish. Lay her on a dry towel on the bed, room temperature, 2–3 hours. A fan on low nearby speeds everything up beautifully.

Before she goes back in a wardrobe, storage case or under-bed box, run this 30-second check:
- Skin feels powder-dry to the back of your hand everywhere — including the hidden folds.
- Internal channels are dry (a fresh absorbent stick comes out dry).

Can I use talcum powder to absorb leftover moisture?
Powder is for after drying, not instead of it. Powder on damp skin cakes up and traps moisture underneath — the exact opposite of what you want.
Is it OK to leave her lying on a towel overnight to dry?
Absolutely — just support her neck and keep her flat with no tight clothing, and she'll be perfect by morning.
My storage case smells musty. Now what?
Air the case out for a day, wipe it down, add fresh silica gel, and give her a full wash-and-dry before she goes back in.
